Apex Machine Tool Adds Two State-of-the-Art EDMs to Enhance its Wire Group

FARMINGTON, Conn., Nov. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Apex Machine Tool, a division of EDAC Technologies (OTC Bulletin Board: EDAC - news), has enhanced its wire EDM group with the addition of two new, state-of-the-art cutting machines, bringing to eight, the total number of EDM machines at Apex. The new units are a Charmilles Robofil 230 and a Charmilles Robofil 2030SI. These leading- edge units enhance Apex's capacity to cut accurately up to 0.0001 tolerance, increasing speed/feed rates to achieve precise repetitive results and close tolerance EDM surfaces for machine, mold and tool component parts.

"Predictable results at high cutting speeds and accuracy through advanced automation mean direct cost savings to our customers," said George Fraher, Apex president. "The new machines guarantee the highest quality product but with one of the fastest turnaround times available - two benefits our customers can depend on."

The machines will be used to supply precision tooling and component parts to a wide variety of industries including aircraft, medical, automotive, telecommunications, power generation, composites, marine, optical, consumer and business products.

The Robofil 230 is designed to deliver perfectly predictable, consistent results in support of a wide variety of stamping tools, dies, fixtures, gages and mechanical engineering component applications. The Robofil 2030SI is a fast, high-volume machine which can operate unattended around the clock. It allows up to 30 degree taper for a 2.6" tall part.
